Adjustable Hinges
Prestige Kitchens hinges are easily adjustable vertically and horizontally. The type of hinge that each style receives is related to the amount that the door style overlays the cabinet frame.  Hinges also vary within a door style, depending on the function of the door on a particular cabinet, such as a lazy susan cabinet.
"Expansion" Panels
Our doors feature solid wood frames enclosing either solid wood or carefully veneered "floating" panels.  These Floating panels allow expansion and contraction of panels without cracking when moisture levels change.
3M Bumpers
All our doors feature 3M bumpers.  These soft, permanently installed door bumpers remain pliable and firmly in place for quiet closing, every time.

Four types of door construction are common in the cabinet industry:

Raised Panel I Recessed Panel I Routed Panel I Slab Door

Variations on these four types are many, but the general specifications are:

Recessed
2 1/4 wide, 3/4 thick solid wood stiles and rails are joined at the four corners and bonded together with adhesive and metal pins. The profile of the frame varies depending on the door style's specifications. The panel is formed using plain-sliced veneer on a plywood center panel and is "floated" within a groove machined into the frame.

Multi-Recessed
Multi-panel style doors have varying numbers of panels depending on the door's width.  Panels are recessed within a solid wood frame/grid. This style may have either a 5-piece drawer head or a slab style drawer head.  The same "floating "method in installation of the panel helps prevent cupping and warping.

Solid

Frames are constructed as above. The center panel is constructed from glued up pieces of solid wood, shaped to produce the raised profile. The floating panel is retained in a groove machined into the frame. "Floating" assures the ability of the panel to resist expansion and contraction with humidity changes.

Routed

A single slab of MDF (medium density fiberboard) is routed to form an edge profile and the appearance of a center panel. Flexible vinyl is laminated to this substrate, using industrial adhesives applied with heat and pressure. This door type is especially resistant to cupping and warping, due to the stability of the MDF product.

Painted MDF is also available in a multitude of custom colors.

Slab

This door has no frame and is constructed by gluing up pieces of solid wood. It is strengthened by the manner in which after the pieces of solid wood have been glued, solid battens are screwed across the back of the door to provide cupping and warping resistance. A 45 degree bevel is often shaped around the perimeter of the door.
